The Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) has appointed the former Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) boss Dr. Ezekiel Mutua as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
MCSK Board Chairperson Lazarus Muli said Mutua’s role at the role takes effect March 25, 2022.
He said the appointment followed Mutua emergence at the top after a rigorous competitive interview among several candidates.
“Dr. Mutua’s appointment follows rigorous competitive interviews in which he emerged top among the candidates who were interviewed for the position,” said Muli.
“We, as members of the MCSK Board, warmly welcomes Dr. Mutua at the helm of our society’s leadership, congratulates him on his appointment and wish him well as he begins his tour of duty with us.”
He added that they had faith that his passion for excellence, as attested by his exemplary performance in the previous positions he has held, will help them to steer the MCSK to the next level.
“We appeal to all our local and international stakeholders to accord Dr. Mutua the necessary support and goodwill in the execution of his duties.”
Mutua worked at KFCB until he earned himself Kenya’s ‘Moral Policeman’ label for criticism of being morally high-handed.
He was always in fights with Kenyan content creators who frequently complained about board censorship.
