Magata Bruce Makenzie tops KCPE 2021 exam; See list of top students

Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Prof. George Magoha released the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination results at Mtihani House in Nairobi Monday two weeks after pupils sat the exams.

Magata Bruce Makenzie from GiGil Hills Academy topped the KCPE 2021 exams after he scored 428 out of the total 500 marks.

Momanyi Ashley Kerubo appeared at position two with 427 marks.

Six candidates tied at position three with 426 marks from different institutions who included: Charity Buyanzi,Mbugua Sharon Wairimu, Mutetei Shantell Linda, Stanley Otieno Omondi, Wekesa Naomi and Kimani Ethan Karuga.

Kirinya Muriuki Victor followed with 425 marks, a very narrow difference.

A total of 11,857 candidates scored 400 marks and above

Two special needs candidates scored over 400 marks.

  1. Stanley Otieno Omondi – Rofin Field Junior School – 426 marks
  2. Wekesa Naomi – Whitestar Academy – 426 marks
  3. Kimani Ethan Karuga – Stepping Stones Preparatory – 426 marks
  4. Njeru Joel Musyoka – Nyagwa Primary – 425 marks
  5. Muriuki Victor – PCEA Mwimbi Boarding Primary school- 425 marks
  6. Diana Rose Natola – Fesbeth Kakamega – 425 marks
  7. Kaderia Emmanuel Munene – New Bambini – 425 marks
  8. Emmanuel Kiplagat Ngetich – Moi Kabarak – 425 marks
  9. George Morris Otieno – Hill School – 425 marks

A total of 320 KCPE candidates were caught cheating and exam administrators from seven centres faced law over the issue.

The CS said the KCPE result is the second last before the country fully transitions into the Competency-Based Curriculum  (CBC) in 2023.

He also added on the formal way to access the results, where, for the SMS option, the candidates will have to send their index number, followed by the initials KCPE (in capital letters) to 20076 in order to access the results.

However, the highest mark dropped from 433 to 428 marks.

The examination kicked off on March, 7, 2022 at 8:30 am across 28,316 exam centres and 1.2 million candidates sat for the exam.
