Motorists around the country will from midnight tonight and for the next one month enjoy lower fuel prices.
According to the Energy And Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), the price of a litre of petrol will decrease by 4 shillings and 76 cents while that of diesel will fall by 1 shilling and 8 cents per litre. But the price of a litre of kerosene will go up by 44 cents per litre.
The authority has attributed the decrease in petroleum products prices to decrease in the landed average cost of imported super petrol and diesel as well as a slight increase in the cost of imported kerosene between August and September 2019.
Following the new pump prices, motorists in Nairobi will pay 108 shillings and 5 cents per litre of petrol and 101.96 shillings for a litre of diesel. Kerosene consumers will however pay 101 shillings and 8 cents for a litre of kerosene.
Petrol in Mombasa will retail at 105 shillings and 44 cents per litre and diesel at 99 shillings and 35 cents while a litre of kerosene will retail at 98 shillings and 47 cents. Motorists in eldoret will pay 109 shillings and 56 cents per litre of petrol, 103 shillings and 66 cents for a litre of diesel and 102 shillings and 79 cents per litre of kerosene.
The new prices, which are inclusive of the 8 percent value added tax, will take effect on the 15th of October and remain in force until the 14th of November.
