The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams kicked off on March 14, 2022, across 10, 413 schools across the country.
A total of 831,015 candidates are being assessed when the papers got disseminated from 483 distribution centres nationwide.
Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Professor George Magoha while in Mombasa County supervised the examination distribution and monitoring exercise.
He assured that the government had put in place enough measures to ensure there are no exam malpractices as he advised teachers and students against cheating.
Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) Chief Executive David Njegere assured the body had provided guidelines to avoid any form of leakages and safeguard the integrity of the test.
“The guidelines say no student is allowed to get out of the exam room before the period allocated to writing a paper is concluded except under very special occasions under strict oversight by the supervisors. Communication in the test rooms will not be allowed and neither will outsiders be allowed to access the school compounds,” said Njegere.
On the other hand, Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Sarah Ruto was in Meru County.
Also, other Principal Secretaries took part in the exercise including Julius Jwan (education)who was in Uasin Gishu County, Alfred Cheruiyot in Kajiado County and Fatuma Chege (CBC) in Nyeri County.
However, practical exams, oral tests for German, French, Arabic and Kenya sign languages had already begun on February 28, 2022.
In the year 2020, a total of 752,981 students sat for the KCSE exams in 10, 437 centres.
