List of well paying foreign countries for Kenyan job seekers

You may be planning to work abroad to have a better life for yourself and your family. Keep in mind that countries have their own cultures, policies, and working conditions.

Depending on your skills, work experience, and personal preference, you can choose among the list if you want to get a high salary. Average annual incomes are expressed in US dollars.

In a recent survey by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Kenyans living in European countries receive better-paying jobs.

Luxembourg

Other regions with better-paying jobs for Kenyans include North America and Oceania where Kenyans pocket as much as Ksh.5.6 million annually or about Ksh.470,000 monthly.

Oceania is a geographic region that includes Australasia, Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia, spanning the Eastern and Western Hemispheres.

Average annual income in Australia is Ksh.5,694,120 (US$50,167). Top industries: tourism, financial services, mining, industrial equipment, transportation equipment, chemicals, steel, food processing

North America is a continent with 23 countries including the United States of America, Mexico, and Canada.

Average annual income in Canada is Ksh. 5,430,314 (US$47,843).

Top industries in Canada are petroleum and natural gas, transportation equipment, chemicals, food products, fish products, wood, and paper products, processed and unprocessed minerals.

The United States accounts for approximately 25 percent of the global GDP. It is the third-largest and third most populous country in the world. In the international scene, the US is a leading political, cultural, and scientific powerhouse. With its very diverse population, the US is a melting pot of cultures, traditions, and values.

Average annual income in the U.S is Ksh.6,664,405 (US$58,714.)

Top industries: consumer goods, electronics, petroleum, steel, motor vehicles, telecommunications, food processing, aerospace, lumber, mining, chemicals.

This article is based on a recently released survey by the CBK on diaspora remittance and we selected a list of developed economies with better-paying jobs.

Overall, the average value of remittances sent in 2019 was over Ksh.680,000 (US$.6,000). Seventy-one percent of the respondents sent annual remittances of up to Ksh.1.7 million (US$.15,000) in 2019.

The main sectoral sources of income for the diaspora largely reflect professional training: Human Health and Social Work activities (12 percent); Finance and Insurance (10 percent); Education (8 percent); Professional, Scientific and Technical activities (8 percent); Information and Communication (8 percent); and International Organizations and Bodies (6 percent).

Comparing income levels and age of the respondents, the survey revealed that the majority of those earning annual incomes less than Ksh.227,000 (mostly African countries) are primarily young individuals with 45 percent of them aged under 30 years.

This points to the likelihood that the younger the individual due to experience, the more likely they are to earn lower wages.

Those who earn more than Ksh.5.6 million are older respondents aged between 31 – 45 years old (60 percent) and comprise mainly the respondents residing in North America and Europe.
