The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) closed 2025 with gains across its main indices, supported by a recovery in large stocks and a banking-led rally that drew local investors back into equities.
By the end of the year, both the NSE 20 Share Index and the All Share Index had risen strongly. The rebound restored paper wealth for long-term shareholders who dominate company share registers, as market capitalisation increased with price recoveries across several sectors.
This ranking, according to the Billionaires Index, estimates the value of publicly disclosed shareholdings in NSE-listed firms using official closing prices from the last week of January 2026. The values are converted at an exchange rate of Ksh.129 to one US dollar ($) and reflect only listed shares, excluding private businesses, property and other unlisted assets.
