The Kenya Primary School Head Teachers Association- KEPSHA has urged teachers to support the implementation of the competency-based curriculum ahead of grade 4 rollout.
KEPSHA chairman Nicholas Gathemia said the ongoing curriculum reforms are timely and would improve the quality of education.
He made these remarks while addressing over 7,000 primary headteachers who attended this year’s KEPSHA delegates conference in Mombasa.
Mr Gathemia asserted that the competency-based curriculum is a good system of learning with the ability to nurture children’s talents and equip them with relevant skills, knowledge, and attitudes for their own survival.

officer Dr. Julius Jwan has however cautioned parents, guardians, and teachers against subjecting learners to books that have not been approved by KICD as they could contain content that is misleading and not suitable for children.
Dr. Jwan says the approved books and competence-based curriculum course materials for grade four are already out and the distribution of the materials, which started in October, is expected to end by December 7 ahead of the opening of schools on January 7.
The four- day event under the theme management of the current reforms in the education sector draws to a close today.
