Kalonzo to join Azimio on condition as he revives 2017 ghost deal with Odinga

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has brought back the 2017  election ghost deal where he condemned Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga for going against their agreement in the NSA coalition.

According to Kalonzo, Odinga agreed on the deal that would make Kalonzo his running mate for one term and pave way for him in the 2022 polls.

“This agreement will remain valid until the 2022 elections whether or not NASA wins the 2017 presidential election, Principal (Raila ) agrees to serve one term and publicly endorse principal Q (Kalonzo) as a presidential candidate for 2022,” reads the agreement signed in April 30, 2017.

While speaking during a press briefing on Tuesday, Kalonzo was quick to condemn Odinga for going against the agreement.

“For Odinga  to accept to be ODM flag bearer he has performed an irreparable material breach of the contract,” said Kalonzo.

However, the Wiper leader now says he is willing to hold talks with ODM leader Raila Odinga ahead of the August 9, 2022 polls but the 2017 agreement will define the grounds of their negotiations.

“As we begin the fresh round of political negotiation in our country i have been compelled to release this document  due to the often said statement that I am indecisive kingmaker and that would be.A fool a third time to support Odinga.”

The former NASA principal revealed that the agreement was not to be revealed to the public but was revealed after Odinga failed to keep his part of the deal with Kalonzo revealing he reached out to renowned Lawyer Makau Mutua in A bid to organise talks between him and Odinga.

“I have tried to have Prof. Makau Mutua to have a meeting with Odinga , Makau is in Breach of the document.”

Kalonzo has, however, stated he is open to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s input in the negotiations.

“In effect, some of you say that I ask President Uhuru Kenyatta to take leadership of the current round of negotiations. I think it is right and proper considering he has a sense of authority.”

This comes as Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr. who is allied to the Wiper boss  revealed that ODM owes wiper Ksh.62 million.
