Equity Taps World Bank Expatriate As It Gears Up For Pan African Expansion

Equity bank has named John Wilson As its group’s Chief Operating Officer.

Wilson, who has been the head of financial institutions in east and southern Africa at the international finance corporation, will oversee equity’s operations at the group level.

A Swedish national, John Wilson has been at the World Bank for 14 years, where he worked at the IFC for 11 years and another 3 years at the international bank of reconstruction and development, which is the public sector arm of the World Bank group.

Equity group holdings managing director and CEO, Dr James Mwangi, has said John will oversee the group’s complete digitization and virtualization of the bank while accelerating its Pan African expansion to 15 countries by 2024.
