The average price of a 50-kilogram bag of coffee at the Nairobi Coffee Exchange increased by 32% to nineteen thousand two hundred shillings at this week’s auction from fourteen thousand five hundred shillings in the previous week’s sale.
Data from the Nairobi Coffee Exchange indicates that the average price of Kenya’s grade AA premium coffee also increased by 16% to trade at an average price of thirty-one thousand seven hundred shillings this week.
A 50-kilogram bag of grade AA coffee traded at an average price of twenty-seven thousand two hundred shillings at last week’s sale.
This week’s upward trajectory was however accompanied by a decrease in the volume of coffee traded to eight thousand two hundred and fourteen bags, down from 11,827 bags in last week’s sale.
Subsequently, the value of this week’s coffee sales dropped 7.9% to a hundred and ninety-five point five million shillings from last week’s two hundred and twelve point five million shillings worth of transactions.
