Barclays launches first rebranded branch in the transition to ABSA

Barclays Bank of Kenya has unveiled its inaugural rebranded branch at Sarit center as it rolls out the rebranding of its bank branches to ABSA.

The bank’s management has said it has already adopted the new brand colors in 15 branches, with the plan to conclude at least half of the branches by end of the year.

The bank estimates the cost of the transition at 910 million shillings as of September this year.

According to the lender, the cost is inclusive of investments in projects like robotics that will be essential in sustaining the new brand once it transits to ABSA.

Despite this, the lender says it will retain its current workforce of 3200 employees across its 85 branches countrywide and 5 head office locations.

The bank has until June 2020 to rebrand to ABSA in Kenya.

Although some branches will start to look like ABSA, the bank will continue to operate and be known as Barclays Bank of Kenya until the process is officially concluded.
