The Kenyan authorities said on Tuesday, January 2, that they were delaying President William Ruto’s order on Visa-free access to Kenya until a future date.
The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) explained that the new entry application method, the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system was not fully ready yet.
Therefore, visitors coming to the country will still need to get a Visa from Kenyan embassies, as usual.
“All travelers entering Kenya from countries that need visas shall keep getting visas in the normal way until the government announces the change plan to the ETA system,” the statement said.
The ETA system, according to government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura, is designed to manage the number of visitors once the visas are removed.
Travellers will pay Ksh.4,600 when they apply for the permit, which is lower than Ksh.7,600 for a single entry visa.
