Uganda has reported 39 new COVID-19-related deaths and 265 more infections from a sample size of 3,627 tests with the positivity rate of 7.8%.
The fatalities have now pushed the country’s death toll to 2,392 and the caseload to 90,656.
According to official data, Uganda has 939 patients admitted in various hospitals.
In its update, the Ministry of Health said the cumulative tests that the country has conducted are 1,427,897.
In terms of recoveries, 68,241 patients have recovered from the disease.
Uganda has announced has so far administered 1,101,431 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

On Tuesday 13 July,2021 Uganda’s Ministry of Health announced that those who fail to get the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine will be allowed to take the Pfizer vaccine and vice versa.
“You can get your second dose as AstraZeneca or Pfizer. If you got AstraZeneca first as dose one and there is no AstraZeneca for your second dose you can get Pfizer,” Dr Henry Mwebesa, the director for General Duties at the ministry, said on Tuesday.
With the current restrictions in the country Ugandans risk of a two-month jail term if they are caught breaching the set public health protocols.
Samples collected in early June showed that the predominant novel COVID-19 strain currently seen in Uganda is the delta variant first reported in India.
Early this month, through the COVAX cost-sharing facility, Uganda applied for 9 million doses and another 2 million doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine through the African Export- Import Bank and the African Union.
