Two brothers found dead after being arrested by police

Police officers are on the spot over the deaths of two students and brothers who were found dead after they were reportedly arrested in Embu North Sub County for flouting COVID-19 protocols.

Officers from Manyatta Police Station are alleged to have taken in the duo last Sunday at Kianjokoma trading centre where they were selling pork.

Their bodies were found at Embu level five hospital mortuary.

Their distraught father John Ndwiga Kamunyuti and his wife Catherine Wawira cried foul claiming that officers at the Manyattta Police Station were reluctant to shed more light on the tragic turn of events.

They insisted that witnesses confirmed that 22-year-old, Benson Njiru and his 19-year-old brother Emanuel Mutura, who were students at Don Bosco Technical Institute and Moi Kabaraka University respectively were arrested by officers at the station.

Felix Thiga, an Uncle to the deceased said his nephew had in his possession over  Ksh.10, 000 from their sales at the time of their arrests.

Relatives of the diseased when in search of them after realizing the boys were missing. They visited  the Manyatta police station to enquire about the two but there were no forthcoming reports from the station.

Embu North Sub County police Commander, Emily Ngaruiya confirmed the incident, saying the two were arrested on Sunday around midnight after being found beyond curfew hours together with other eight suspects.

Ngaruiya said while the suspects were being escorted to the Manyatta police station, they jumped from the police car and ran away.

According to the commander, they went after the two only to find them by the roadside lying lifeless and were taken to the morgue.
