The National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has called of the vetting exercise of 51 Principal Secretary nominees, in an exercise which started on November 14.
In a notice Wednesday, Speaker Wetangula said he arrived at the decision following a High Court ruling.
This was after the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) among other petitioners challenged President William Ruto’s nominees over lack of regional and tribal balance.
Inside the petition was also an argument that there was lack of a two-third gender rule provision, alongside people with disabilities and the youth.
Wetangula said the August House is obligated to uphold and respect the rule of law and will postpone the vetting process “until further notice.”
It deals a major blow to President Ruto in effort to expedite service delivery to the public.
