The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary-General Wilson Sossion has resigned.
“I hereby by today 25th June of 2021 bow out of KNUT leadership,” said Sossion.
He, however, said he would remain loyal to the union even as he quits.
The embattled session says he now wants to focus on his political career, quitting as KNUT boss hours to Saturday’s union elections that are to be held in Nairobi.
Born in 1969, Sossion has been at the helm of the teachers union for eight years.
In 2017, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) nominated Sossion to the National Assembly to champion workers’ rights.
