Ruto makes drastic changes among his PS nominees

President William Ruto made radical change to the list he forwarded to the National Assembly for consideration of his 51 Principal Secretaries.

This is after Caroline Nyawira Murage withdrew as PS for Correctional Service in the Ministry of Interior this week.

The President has since nominated Mary Muthoni Muriuki in place of Murage and the name has been forwarded to N.A Speaker, Moses Wetangula.

“I convey the message from the President that he wishes to nominate Mary Muthoni Muriuki for the appointment as PS State Department and he seeks for Muriuki’s consideration be taken on priority basis,” said Speaker Wetangula during parliamentary proceeding.

The substitution is in line with Article 155 (3) of the Constitution for the Public Appointment Parliamentary Approval Act (Amendment) 2011.

Ruto urged the MPs to confirm the new nominee on priority basis, with Speaker Wetangula directing Departmental Committee for Justice and Legal Affairs to initiate consideration and approval procedures.

N.A Clerk Serah Kioko will place an advert on local dailies for the approval hearing on November 11.

After the consideration, the Committee shall table the report by November 28, 2022 for the House to make a decision on the nominee before a break for recess on December 1, 2022. The MPs will resume business on February 13, 2023.
