Robert Mugabe, former Zimbabwe President dies at the age of 95.
Mr. Mugabe had been in hospital in Singapore since April 2019 according to his family, two years after his fall from power in 2017 when his stamina began to deteriorate.
Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa confirmed Mr. Mugabe’s death through his twitter handle.
He died in Singapore where he made frequent visits to receive medical care in recent months as his health deteriorated. As far back as November 2018, President Mnangagwa, who took over from him as president, told members of the ruling party Zanu-PF that Mugabe could no longer walk.

Despite Zimbabwe’s decline during Mugabe’s rule, he remained defiant, railing against the West for what he called its neo-colonialist attitude and urging Africans to take control of their resources, a populist message that was often a hit even as many nations on the continent shed the strongman model and moved toward democracy.
Mugabe enjoyed acceptance among peers in Africa who chose not to judge him in the same way as Britain, the United States and other Western countries.
Zimbabwe’s ruling party ZANU-PF sacked Mr. Mugabe as party leader in November 2017 marking the accelerating collapse of the then 93-year-old’s support and power base.
Following mass demonstrations calling for him to get out of power across the city of Harare, negotiations between Mugabe and the army resumed to plot the end of the president’s regime after the army seized power.
After the army briefly took power, Mugabe’s exit became inevitable, but the veteran autocrat dug his heels in with one last, defiant performance.
He is survived by his wife Grace Mugabe, 54, and four children, a daughter and three sons
