Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has stepped down from running the company he founded.
In a statement to employees, Dorsey said he was “really sad … yet really happy.”
Stressing the decision was his own, Dorsey said the company and its management were ready to move on from their founder.
Chief technology officer Parag Agrawal will take on the role, with Dorsey remaining on the company’s board until stepping down definitively next year.
Dorsey has been under pressure from some shareholders because he also runs his payments company, Square.
Yesterday, he had posted “I love twitter” on his personal feed.
