Prof. Kithure Kindiki, the Cabinet Secretary nominee for the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government, has seen his net worth rise by Ksh.150 million during his 21 months in government.
Re-appointed to the Cabinet by President William Ruto following the disbandment of all Cabinet Secretaries amid nationwide protests, Kindiki’s wealth increased from Ksh.544 million in 2022 to Ksh.694 million at his current vetting.
Kindiki is currently under intense scrutiny by the National Assembly Committee on Appointments, chaired by Speaker Moses Wetangula. This vetting comes at a time when there are heightened demands for thorough investigations into the financial dealings of public officials.
Facing questioning from the committee, Kindiki attributed his increased wealth to his legal practice, distancing his financial growth from any government dealings.

“The increase in my net worth comes primarily from my law practice. I have not engaged in any business with the government or applied for any tenders directly or indirectly,” he said.
Appearing before the committee on Thursday, August 1, Kindiki explained that a significant portion of his wealth increase resulted from the settlement of a long-standing debt by a client of his legal firm.
His financial gains are solely from legal fees and consulting work.
“None of my wealth has come from public funds except my official salary and allowances,” he asserted.
During his previous vetting in 2022, Kindiki declared a net worth of Ksh.544 million, which included land and buildings valued at approximately Ksh.165 million, along with bank deposits and investments in shares and various savings cooperatives amounting to around Ksh.50 million.
