Paul Kagame Wins Fourth Term Garnering 99% Votes

Rwanda’s incumbent President Paul Kagame is leading by 99.15 percent of the vote in the presidential election on Monday, according to partial provisional results with a 79 percent vote count, the Rwanda National Electoral Commission said.

This will be President Kagame’s fourth term since he assumed power in 2000.

Kagame is a Rwandan politician and former military officer who has been the President of Rwanda since 2000.

He was previously a commander of the Rwandan Patriotic Front, a rebel armed force which invaded Rwanda in 1990.
