Cabinet Secretary for Health Mutahi Kagwe has confirmed a new case of Coronavirus in Kenya bringing the total number of the infected to four.
During a press briefing on Tuesday afternoon, CS Kagwe said the infected person came into contact with patient zero who had travelled from London on March 8.
“The four are healthy and are being looked after. The search for those that the patient has been in contact with is ongoing. We continue to ask the citizen to maintain hygiene,” he said.
According to CS Kagwe, the patient’s samples were confirmed as positive by the National Influenza Centre. The centre has so far tested 111 suspected cases together with the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI).
He further stated that on March 12, a total of 27 people were traced after having had contact with the first patient and two of them tested positive.
