Ola Energy commissions a Ksh.40 million new LPG plant in Kenya

OLA Energy Kenya has commissioned a new Ksh.40 million state-of-the-art Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) plant in Nairobi that will see the company double its capacity to meet the growing domestic demand for cooking gas in the country.

According to Ola, the new LPG facility will be able to handle up to 650 metric tonnes every month.

It is made up of machinery with very advanced technological capabilities and its intelligent features enable it to detect leakages during the filling process.

“The new LPG plant is fully automated and thereby requires very minimal human interaction. It is able to detect even the smallest of leaks thus ensuring absolute safety and expanded filling capacity growth of up to 300 per cent,” said OLA Energy Kenya Operations Manager Franklin Nubi.

OLA Energy LPG Business Manager Paul Gachichi said the company’s primary focus is to provide customers with affordable and clean energy and assured Kenyans a top quality and value for their money.

“Our target is to grow our market share which will, in turn, increase our reach to our consumers with an efficiency of up to 300 percent to serve the market conveniently and quicker,” said Gachichi.

According to Ola, a 6kg gas cylinder is set to be the introductory stock keeping unit which gives it precedence.

The 13kg and 50kg on the other hand are also targeted as the pocket value grows to increase outreach for consumers in industries, hotels, and hospitals.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by OLA Energy Chief Operating Officer Maurizio Libutti, Regional Business Officer Ali Haidara Moulaye and the OLA Energy Kenya General Manager Millicent Onyonyi.

Ola was initially known as OiLibya but was rebranded to Ola Energy back in 2029 by the Retail Visual Identity (RVI) of the Brand.

The move was to make the company was intended to making it far more competitive and in line with current market trends in the wake of growing number of LPG companies in Kenya and across Africa.

Operating across 18 countries, Ola Energy is a Pan-African Group operating in the oil and energy industry.

Having a network of over 1,100 service stations, the supply and marketing of fuels and lubes has been carried out under the OiLibya Brand, making it one of the major players in the sector, and the flagship of the Group.
