Director of Communication for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Philip Etale has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 barely four months after catching the virus.
Etale, through a Facebook post on Monday, July 26th, announced his COVID-19 status, saying he was experiencing a deep cough, blocked noses and headache.
“Dear friends, I am battling a second attack of Covid-19. I thought it was normal flu and bought cough syrup and antibiotics from over the counter. The doctor then advised me to go for the Covid-19 test, which I did, and the result was positive,” he said.
According to Etale, he lost sense of smell and appetite with excruciating and unbearable body aches. He further said to experience severe waistline causing painful sleepless nights.
I lost my sense of smell and appetite. The body aches are excruciating and unbearable. The headache is severe, and the whole body is tired. The waistline is painful to the extent I can’t wake up to walk. My nights are painful with no sleep,” he added.
Etale has since cautioned Kenyans to strictly adhere to the COVID-19 restrictions currently in place.
This comes amid the country’s surging coronavirus cases and spiking positivity rate. As of Sunday, Kenya’s COVID-19 caseload stood at 197,409, after the ministry of health announced 664 more infections.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe also announced 16 more fatalities, pushing the country’s death toll to 3,865.
In terms of vaccination, Kenya has so far administered 1,672,687, with 625,332 people having been fully vaccinated.
