Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has been freed on a bond of Ksh30 million with one surety of similar amount or cash bail of Ksh15 million.
The Governor has, however, been barred from accessing County offices until his case is determined. Chief magistrate Douglas Ogoti also issued a directive for the Governor to refrain from mentioning his case on social media.
Magistrate Ogoti said that should there be the need for Sonko to go to the office, he should be in the company of investigating officers.
He was arrested on December 6, immediately after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji gave orders.
Sonko was charged with Corruption and other related matters which saw an embezzlement of Ksh357 million in the County.
