The online application for placement to diploma teacher training programmes has been reopened by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).
Ezekiel Machogu, the Cabinet Secretary for Education, declared that 13,439 openings in the programs for the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE) and Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education (DECTE) would be filled by candidates.
At Kangaru School in Embu, where he oversaw an education and career guidance day, CS Machogu was speaking to children.
The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination must be passed with a mean grade of C (plain), according to the Education CS, in order to qualify. There won’t be any additional subject requirements, he noted.
The Kenya Universities and institutes Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), which has opened its online application portal, will manage the placement of trainees to the 32 public teacher training institutes for the second year, he said.
Agnes Mercy Wahome, the chief executive officer of KUCCPS, said that the gateway would be accessible until July 28, 2023.
Wahome stated that the option was open to all qualifying KCSE certificate holders, including non-Kenyans who took the exam in 2022 or earlier up until the year 2000.
11,358 seats are available in the DPTE program, whilst 2,081 spots are open for enrollment in the DECTE program. The CEO of KUCCPS urged pupils to match their Form One and Form Two topic choices with the future occupations they planned to pursue.
Wahome further urged students in Forms Three and Four to take their areas of strength, passion, job market, and income range into account when choosing courses at universities and colleges. She also suggested that the students choose their professional paths depending on their academic talents and performance.
How to Use
The KCSE index number, KCSE year, and password must be used to log in at students.kuccps.net for interested applicants. Select the Teacher Training Colleges (TTC) programs tab after arriving at the placement portal.
DPTE or DECTE application can be chosen. The program code and annual cost for each of the 32 accredited training colleges will be listed. For the application, only the code is required. After finishing, click “Apply Now.”
