KNCCI and India’s ASMKI to Work on Strategic Tech and SME Partnerships in Kenya

ASMKI’s mirror’s India’s growing push to expand its SME footprint in Africa by offering affordable and scalable tech solutions to emerging markets.

The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) hosted India’s Association of Small and Medium Knowledge Industries (ASMKI) to explore joint ventures, technology exchange, and capacity-building opportunities in Kenya.

The ASMKI delegation was led by President Shri Nalin Kohli, is in Nairobi. They focused on establishing partnerships in software, electronics, biotech, clean technology, healthcare, and security, areas considered vital to Kenya’s economic transformation.

The two are looking at strengthening bilateral commercial ties between Kenya and India, particularly in knowledge-based industries.

KNCCI President Dr. Erick Rutto said the value of South–South collaboration will benefit Kenya’s enterprises.

“India has demonstrated how SMEs in knowledge sectors can drive large-scale job creation, innovation, and inclusive development,” said Dr. Rutto. “Kenya can benefit immensely through technology and skills transfer, particularly in highimpact sectors like software development, biotech, and healthcare.”

He also pointed to KNCCI’s commitment to connecting local businesses with international partners to enhance competitiveness and growth.

“The future of trade is knowledge-based. Our role is to ensure Kenyan businesses are equipped, connected, and competitive,” he added.

ASMKI’s mirror’s India’s growing push to expand its SME footprint in Africa by offering affordable and scalable tech solutions to emerging markets.

ASMKI said it will work with local tech hubs and innovation centers to provide Indian technologies, mentorship programs, and training tailored to the needs of Kenyan start-ups.

A key outcome of the engagement will be a Technology Summit later this year, jointly planned by ASMKI and KNCCI. The summit will serve as a connection hub between Indian SMEs and African partners, aiming to unlock new markets, spark innovation, and facilitate cross-border partnerships.

Part of KNCCI strategy is to support entrepreneurship, encourage technology-driven development, and enhance access to global markets for small businesses in Kenya.

Discussions also touched on how the two organizations can collaborate on trade missions, knowledge-sharing, and co-developing sector-specific programs.
