Kenyan police rejects Ksh.180K bribe from terror suspect, makes arrest

A terror suspect has been arrested in Nairobi’s Langata area for trying to bribe a police officer.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the suspect identified as Ali Abdullahi Hussein from Somalia tried to bribe an officer on duty with Ksh.180,000.

Hussein was seeking information about a day of the week a popular joint along Langata road, hosts the largest number of patrons.

“When the officer hesitated to respond, the suspect offered a reward of Sh180,000 in exchange for the information that was not forthcoming,” said the DCI.

This prompted an officer on duty to alert his colleagues who responded immediately and arrested the suspect.

In Hussein’s possession was Ksh.156,398.46 (US$1,396).

He was arrested on Saturday morning, at 2 pm and is currently being interrogated by the DCI-based anti-terror sleuths to determine his motive.
