The Government is working towards setting up bulk LPG import handling and storage facilities at the Kenya Petroleum Refineries Limited (KPRL) facility in Mombasa County, soon after Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) fully takes over KPRL.

The Energy & Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir stated that the acquisition process is on the verge of completion, following robust consultative engagements between the Ministry, KPC, KPRL and the County Government of Mombasa in the last few weeks.

Taifa Gas will build the 30,000-tonne facility at the Special Economic Zone in Dongo Kundu, near the port of Mombasa.

It was earlier estimated to cost $130 million (Ksh.16. 25 billion).
