Kenya has strongly refuted accusations by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), which claimed Nairobi is fueling the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs dismissed SAF’s circular—shared with diplomatic and consular missions globally—as baseless and misleading.
“While Kenya sees no value in engaging in unnecessary exchanges over such a grave and complex matter, it is necessary to set the record straight and urge the international community to treat these allegations with the contempt they deserve,” reads the statement in part.
Kenya said its committed to peace efforts under the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and other regional initiatives, not to forget its active engagement with both factions in the Sudan conflict.

“Nairobi has hosted meetings with leaders from both warring sides—jointly and separately—underscoring Kenya’s longstanding role as a trusted mediator in regional peace efforts.”
The Ministry also addressed criticism over a meeting held in Nairobi in February, where the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied groups signed a transitional constitution. While some viewed this as a sign of partiality, Kenya defended its neutrality.
“Holding such a dialogue in Nairobi—or any other part of Kenya—does not amount to endorsing its outcomes or supporting the formation of an exile government, as some have alleged.”
According to Nairobi, peace in Sudan remains a priority, not just for Kenya but for the region and the international community.
“As long as the conflict continues, it will remain a pressing concern. Kenya will not remain idle and continues to call on all parties involved to pursue a peaceful resolution and end the bloodshed.”
