The Kenyan government has reintroduced mandatory face masks in public places in the wake of rising cases of coronavirus.
In an update Monday, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe imposed the measures on Public Service Vehicles (PSV), flights, and offices.
Other public gatherings are supermarkets and places of worship.
This happens as Kenya battles the sixth wave of COVID-19.
Last week, the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a new report on COVID-19 which places Kenya among countries experiencing the sixth wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
In the report released on Thursday, Kenya and Mauritius are the only two nations classified in the said category among the 54 African Union (AU) member states following the recent surge in cases.
“Two member States (Kenya and Mauritius) experienced a 6th COVID-19 wave. Since the last briefing, One additional member State (Kenya) is experiencing the 6th wave,” said Africa CDC.
According to World Health Organisation (WHO), there have been 328,319 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 5,651 deaths, reported.
