Kenya has recorded 568 new cases of Coronavirus in the last 24 hours.
According to the Ministry of Health, the new infections were obtained from a sample size of 9,029 tested and with a positivity rate of 6.3 percent.
The new cases pushing the caseload to 162,666 with cumulative tests conducted rising to 1,710,414.
At the same time, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has announced 15 more covid-19 related deaths.
In a statement from the National Emergency Response Committee (NERC), the CS said 5 of the deaths occurred on diverse dates within the last one month while 10 were captured after facility audits. The 15 now push cumulative fatalities to 2,665.
In terms of hospital admissions, 1,086 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 6,381 patients are on home based isolation and care.
131 patients are in the ICU while another 111 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen.
173 patients have recovered from the disease with total recoveries now standing at 110,653.
In terms of vaccination, at least 911,515 people have received the AstraZeneca vaccine against COVID-19.
“Of these 531,540 are aged 58 years and above plus others, Health workers, 160,468, Teachers 142,624, while Security Officers 76, 578,” reads NERC statement.
