Kenya has recorded 148 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours.
According to the ministry of health, the new infections were obtained from a sample size of 2,163 tests and with a positivity rate of 6.8 per cent.
The new cases pushing cumulative cases to 172,639.
At the same time, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced 21 more covid-19 related deaths.
In a statement, the CS said all the 21 deaths were captured after facility audits.
This now pushes cumulative fatalities to 3,308.
In terms of hospital admissions, 1,147 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 4,802 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.
102 patients are in the intensive care units while another 95 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen.
631 patients have recovered from the disease with total recoveries now standing at 118,226.
So far 975,835 persons have been vaccinated against covid-19 countrywide.
At least 13,194 of them having received their second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine. “Of these 6,337 are Health Workers, Others 2,575, aged 58 years and above 2,411, Teachers 1,161 while Security Officers 714,” said Kagwe.
