Canadian University Announces $11 Million Scholarships For African Students

The University of Ottawa in Canada has unveiled its $11 million Entrance & Excellence scholarships aimed at African students pursuing undergraduate studies.

The scholarship is divided into two programs: The Entrance scholarship and the Excellence scholarship. These are available for undergraduate students from Africa and other countries who study in English and are admitted for the Fall 2024 term (starting in September).

This four-year scholarship will partially cover university tuition fees.

Scholarship Details

The scholarship not only recognizes pre-university academic achievements but also rewards accomplishments during each term of full-time study at the University.

The scholarships will enable African students studying in English to participate in numerous pilot programs across three faculties at a significantly reduced tuition cost.

The amount of the scholarship varies, depending on the admission average and the faculty offering the program.

Excellence scholarships are granted through a competitive process to top candidates with an admission average of 90% or higher who apply for admission by April 1, 2024, and whose admission has been processed by April 15, 2024.

The Entrance scholarship cannot be combined with the Excellence Scholarship for African Students Studying in English.

Preference will be given to candidates who choose the University of Ottawa as their first choice.
