Kenya receives second batch of COVID-19 vaccines

Barely a week after AstraZeneca-Oxford coronavirus vaccines arrived in Kenya, another 100,000 dosses landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Thursday from India.

Health Cabinet Secretary, Mutahi Kagwe received the consignment and was in the company of other government officials.

On March 5, Kenya received the first batch of vaccines (1.02 million) from the COVAX facility.

The government is targeting to inoculate at least 400,000 health workers during the first phase of the vaccination exercise. Other Kenyans who have been given priority during the exercise are armed forces and teachers.

So far, only 4,000 Kenyans have received the jab.
