Kenya lifts ban on UAE flights

Kenya has lifted the ban on all inbound and transit passenger flights from United Arab Emirates (UAE), Capital FM News has reported.

The ban was placed two weeks ago in what appeared as a retaliatory measure after Dubai first imposed the ban on all Kenyan flights.

According to the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) Director-General Gilbert Kibe, the flight was lifted on Monday at midnight.

Kibe spoke to Capital saying that “Kenya shall do a NOTAM lifting the suspension of flights to and from the UAE  from midnight tonight (Monday),”

Kenya imposed a ban on inbound and transit flights from Dubai on January 10.

Kibe said the seven-day suspension is due to fake COVID-19 certificate that Dubai had issued against Kenya.

Kenya’s move 25 days after UAE extended the ban on Kenyan traveling to its territory indefinitely, restricting inbound flights from Nairobi and a host of other African countries.
