
Travelers will now be able to book flights across Kenya Airways and Qatar Airways on a single ticket following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two airlines.
The deal will enhance regional and international connectivity, with the agreement paving the way for extensive codeshare arrangements across both airlines’ networks.
The deal was signed in Doha between Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, and Kenya Airways Group Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Allan Kilavuka.
According to KQ boss Kilavula, the airline is inclined to offer its clients with a more flexible, improved connections and access to more destinations across Africa.
The access will stretch to entire Middle East.
“This collaboration is a significant milestone for our growth strategy and aligns with our commitment to connect Africa to the world,” said Mr. Kilavuka. “The extended codeshare offering will not only enhance the connectivity we offer but also provide our customers with better travel options and a superior experience.”

Qatar Airways will launch a new route between Mombasa and Doha for direct airline ticket between between Kenya and Qatar.
There’s also a plan for the two to expand flight frequencies between Nairobi and Doha under the new codeshare agreement.
Qatar Airways Group CEO, Engr. Al-Meer said the move forms part of its strategic plan to strengthen its presence across Africa.
“Our partnership with Kenya Airways reinforces our shared vision of improving access to global markets and delivering exceptional value to passengers,” he noted.
Besides the codeshare, the two bosses also agreed to further deepen their relationship in airport and ground services, loyalty programmes, procurement, cargo services, and maintenance.
The last time KQ entered into such a deal was with South African Airline during former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s reign in July 2022.
The agreement between KQ and SAA allows both airlines to market each other’s flights using their own codes, enabling passengers to book seamless, multi-leg journeys on a single ticket.
From South Africa to East Africa – travelers can now fly under the SAA code to Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Entebbe, Mombasa, and Kisumu.
From Kenya into Southern Africa – routes include Cape Town, Durban, and Harare.
