Governor Ojaamong assents to Busia Suplementary Bill, 2021

Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has assented to the Busia County Supplementary Appropriation Bill, 2021.

This is an Act of the County Assembly to authorize the issuance of Ksh.10.2 billion out of the Busia County Exchequer and its application towards the services of the year ending June, 30 2022 and appropriate that sum for certain public services and purposes.

The Governor said he signed the bill into law to unlock development funds to enable completion of ongoing projects and payment of pending bills.

The Act indicates the amount each department has been allocated for recurrent and development expenditure.

The Department of Infrastructure is leading with an allocation of Ksh.1.096 billion to go towards development projects, including Ksh.497 million for development and maintenance of roads, Ksh. 569 million for other development projects and Ksh.25.7 million for Energy Development.

The department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries is second with an allocation of Ksh.995 million. These include Ksh.403 million for Kenya Climate SMART Agriculture Programme, Ksh.413 million for other development projects, Ksh.82 million for Agricultural Training and Extension Services.

Health and Sanitation has been allocated Ksh.691 million with Ksh.350 million for curative health services, Ksh.248 million for preventive health and Ksh.92 million for other development projects.

Water, Irrigation, Environment and Natural Resources has an allocation of Ksh.536 million with Ksh.330 million for other development projects, Ksh.178 million for water supply services, Ksh. 17.5 million for environmental management protection and Ksh.10 million for forest development and management.

Lands, Housing and Urban Development has an allocation of Ksh.355 million for its development components including Urban management and development control (Ksh.283 million), housing development and management (Ksh.46 million), other development projects (Ksh.19 million) and county land administration and planning (Ksh.5.5 million).

Development expenditure   for other departments include Ksh.277 million for Education and Vocational Training, Ksh.247 million (Trade, Investment, Industry and Co-operatives), Ksh.121 million  (Sports, Culture and Social Services), Ksh.105 million (County Assembly) and Ksh.95 million for the  Governorship.
