The government through the Ministry of Health has allayed fears over “importation’ of coronavirus into Kenya following the arrival of a China Southern Airlines flight to Nairobi on Wednesday.
According to the statement issued by the ministry, all 239 passengers aboard the flight were screened onboard, cleared and advised to self-quarantine for the next 14 days.
“China Southern Airlines resumed its flights to Nairobi today. All 239 passengers were screened onboard, cleared and advised to self-quarantine for the next 14 days.” Reads the statement in part.
Kenyans have been advised to remain vigilant as the risk is still high globally, and that they should continue taking precautionary measures to stay safe from the virus.
The government has also urged Kenyans to refrain from non-essential travel to countries that have been experiencing the outbreak.
However, more than 17 reported cases on Coronavirus alerts in Kenya have so far been tested by the government and all turned out negative for COVID-19.
By February, 25, reports from the World Health Organisation (WHO) indicated that 2,700 people have so far died of the virus with more than 80,000 affected globally.
