English Premier League kicks off this weekend

The English Premier League Season 2021-2022 officially kicks off on August 13, 2021 with key fixtures set to be honored this coming weekend.

Week one of the league games will see Arsenal will play newly promoted side Brentford in the opening fixture of the league on Friday 10 pm.

On Saturday major games are supposed to be played in the afternoon and evening. Europa League runners up Manchester United face off with Leeds United at 2.30 pm.  Leicester City play Wolves at 5 pm.

Newly crowned UEFA Super Cup champions Chelsea face off with Crystal Palace on 2 pm. Watford play Aston Villa at 5 pm. Everton play the saints Southampton at 5 pm.  Burnley play Brighton at 5pm.

Norwich city plays Jurgen Klopp’s side Liverpool at 7.3 pm. Newcastle plays West Ham United at 4 pm. Tottenham will play defending champions Manchester City in the final match fixture on Saturday.

With the transfer window closing in two weeks teams are in a rush to get to new players to bolster their squads.

Chelsea have already smashed their transfer record by bringing back Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan.

While Manchester United have parted with around Ksh.14 billion (£110m) to sign Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane while defending champions and Manchester City have completed the signing of key Aston Villa point man Jack Grealish.

Mikel Arteta’s side Arsenal parted with Ksh.6.4 billion (£50m) to bring in 23-year-old defender Ben White from Brighton while Tottenham Hot Spurs spentt a similar amount to sign 23-year-old Argentine International Cristian Romero.
