“This honour reflects the incredible journey we’ve shared with our viewers across Africa,” said Calvo Mawela, Group CEO of MultiChoice. “Being recognised as Africa’s most admired media brand and joining the Brand Africa Hall of Fame is not just about our past—it’s about our future. We remain committed to telling African stories in authentic and innovative ways.”
The Brand Africa 100 rankings are based on independent research conducted across over 30 African countries, representing more than 85% of Africa’s population and GDP. The survey includes over 150,000 brand mentions and nearly 6,000 unique brands. It is the only pan-African brand study driven by research and not sponsored marketing.
DStv’s Hall of Fame induction highlights its role in shaping African culture and identity. By supporting local filmmakers, partnering with African creatives, and prioritising high-quality storytelling, DStv plays a key role in building the continent’s growing creative economy.
This is the second year in a row that DStv has won the top media brand title, confirming its lasting popularity and impact. Since launching with just 16 channels in 1995, DStv now offers hundreds of local and international channels, streaming services, and on-demand content to millions of households across Africa.
