County governments will receive an extra Ksh.46.3 billion to cater for their fiscal year 2023/24, sponsored by the County Government Additional Allocation Bill, 2023.
The Bill was signed into law on Monday by President William Ruto at State House.
“I’m happy that now we have resources that will support our counties to discharge their mandate,” said the president in the presence of other leaders including National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
Ruto challenged MPs to deliver for their people, with his interest vested in farmers.

Part of the extra kitty is Ksh.5 billion which will be dedicated to the Fertilizer Subsidy Program.
Kshs.4.5 billion will be allocated to 18 counties for the Under the County Aggregated Industrial Parks Programme where each county will get Ksh.250 million
The counties include Bungoma, Busia, Embu, Garissa, Homa Bay, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Machakos, Meru, Migori, Mombasa, Murang’a, Nakuru, Nandi, Nyamira, Siaya, Trans Nzoia, and Uasin Gishu.
Governors will also receive new office headquarters in a Ksh.454 million kitty.
County Governments to benefit from this are Isiolo, Lamu, Tana River, Tharaka Nithi, and Nyandarua.
Further, Kshs.29 billion will be dedicated to conditional allocations from proceeds of loans and grants from development partners.
Other leaders present during the ceremony were Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, Council of Governor chairperson Anne Waiguru Majority Leaders Arron Cheruiyot (Senate) and Kimani Ichungwah (National Assembly) and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro.
