Kilifi County Governor Amason Kingi has temporarily banned all Public transport services among other key services within the county, effective March 27.
In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, Kingi also directed all quarrying activities to halt their business, and all slaughterhouses until further notice.
Hawking has also been suspended forthwith as the county tightens its grip to curb the spread of the virus.
However, vendors selling foodstuff in different markets have been granted permit to continue with their services only if they will swear to adhere to the self-distancing measures.
Kenya on Monday confirmed 25 cases of COVID-19 where Cabinet Secretary for Health Mutahi Kagwe termed Kilifi County among the counties that should be observed amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Kenya registered the total tally of coronavirus cases to 31 on Wednesday, up from 28 cases which had been recorded on Tuesday.
However, one patient has so far died of the virus, recording the first case of a patient to succumb to the virus in Kenya.
The 66-year old Kenyan male was the first patient to test positive for coronavirus and was undergoing treatment at Agha Khan Hospital in Nairobi. According to the Ministry of Health, the patient was also suffering from diabetes.
