Copia ventures into sugar, rice processing in Kenya

Copia Global, an e-commerce platform says it will start processing both sugar and rice in Kenya in a bid to expand its rich customers base.

It says has already set up a manufacturing unit, which will allow it to boost its output of affordable sugar and rice.

The new plant is expected to double the capacity offered by the platform to supply goods in the country following increased demand.

Copia branded commodities will be packed in a in 500g and 1kg packs. It is the company’s second facility since it entered the East African market in Kenya and Uganda.

According to Forbes, Copoia has served 1.6 million customers through 30,000 collection points.

It first set foot in two regions as e-commerce entity competing with well established platforms such as Jumia and Amazon.

Tracey Turner, the Founder and Chairman of Copia Global and has already secured all the necessary licenses and approvals for local authorities, including Kenya Beaureau of Standards (KEBS).
