
Bill Gates, the Cofounder of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has a total net worth equivalent to Ksh.13.8 trillion ($125.9 billion).
According to Forbes rich list 2021, Gates is the fourth richest man on earth.
With his wife Melinda, Bill Gates chairs the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the world’s largest private charitable foundation.
In May 2020, the Gates Foundation said it would spend Ksh32.9 billion ($300 million) to fight the coronavirus pandemic, funding treatment, detection and vaccines.
Gates has sold or given away much of his stake in Microsoft and he owns just over 1 percent of shares and invested in a mix of stocks and other assets.
He stepped down as a board member of Microsoft in March last year, 45 years later after he founded the software firm together with Paul Allen.
To date, Gates has donated Ksh.3.9 trillion ($35.8 billion) worth of Microsoft stock to the Gates Foundation.
In January, Gates Foundation contributed Ksh1 billion ($10 million) to help in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, one month after it emerged from China.
In Febraury last year, ‘Bill and Melinda gates Foundation’ also donated Ksh1 billion ($10 million) to the Food Agriculture Organization (FAO) to fight the invasion of locusts in East Africa.
His donation in Africa was at a time when China countries around the world were struggling to contain the spread of the disease which, by then, had claimed 130 lives and infected more than 6,063 around the world.
