Absa Bank’s Net Profit up 15% to Ksh.33 billion

Absa Bank Kenya Plc has posted a 15% increase in net profit, closing the nine-month period ended September 30, 2025, at Ksh.16.9 billion.

Net interest income declined by 5% to Ksh.33.0 billion due to prevailing market conditions.

“These results demonstrate our continued commitment to empowering individuals, businesses, and communities through innovative financial and non-financial solutions,” said Absa Bank Kenya’s Managing Director and CEO, Abdi Mohamed.

The lender’s customer deposits rose 9% to Kshs.384 billion, matched by loans and advances which closed at Ksh.310 billion, with total assets jumping to 14% to Ksh.554 billion.

In the period under review, the lender expanded its network channels in what it christened high-growth regions, doubling the agency banking outlets to 8,060 across the country.

And as part of its growth strategy, Mohamed said the bank will keep serving “our customers effectively, and we are accelerating the transformation of our organisation to deliver sustained performance.”

Under it’s corporate and investment department, Absa executed Ksh.20.1 billion solar securitisation deal, the largest of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa outside South Africa.

Return on Equity went up 24% compared to the previous year, with cost to income ratoin jumping 37.6% after a 1% reduction in total costs which stood at Ksh.17.5 billion.
