The Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) has raised concerns over mushrooming and unapproved construction going on in the city.
Peter Kariuki from NMS has revealed that nearly fifty percent of construction works in Nairobi is unapproved and illegal, putting the lives of millions of Kenyans at risk.
At the same time, NMS says the sector took a pandemic hit with several projects stalling.
National Construction Authority (NCA) board chairman, David Gaitho says up to 32 percent of construction projects were suspended while 16 PERCENT were completely terminated following the outbreak of COVID-19.
They spoke this morning during a construction industry dialogue hosted by the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI).
