Tanzania League winners to pocket tens of Kenyan millions as Kenyan clubs fight for ‘peanuts’

The internet has been thrown into a frenzy after revelations that the 2020/2021 Tanzanian Premier League champions will pocket close to five times more than what their Kenyan counterparts will take home.

Whereas FKF Premier League winners will receive prize money of Ksh. 5 million, the winning club in the Vodacom Premier League will be smiling their way to the bank to get their 500 million Tanzanian shillings which is an equivalent about Ksh. 23 million.

The second, third, and fourth place finishers will also pocket more than Kenyan winners.
Tanzanian’s number two will be sure of Ksh. 11.6 million, Ksh. 10.5 million for number three, and Ksh.9.3 million for number four.

This was revealed in the launch of the sponsorship deal with Azam TV which secured the official rights to broadcast the Tanzanian Premier for another ten years.

The deal which is worth Tsh. 225.6 billion, an equivalent of Ksh.10.5 billion, is the largest sponsorship deal to be signed in the region.
