Sumsub Inks Deal With Kenya’s Fintech Association for Digital Innovation

The deal between the two shows a commitment to enhancing business growth and innovation across Africa.

Sumsub has attained platinum membership with the Association of Fintechs in Kenya (AFIK) to accelerate the development of Kenya’s financial technology ecosystem.

AFIK is a leading force in advancing the country’s digital financial transformation.

The deal between the two shows a commitment to enhancing business growth and innovation across Africa.

“This partnership will enhance regional fintech collaboration, unlocking talent and sharing best practices in verification and fraud prevention,” said Hannes Bezuidenhout, Sumsub’s VP Sales for Africa.

AFIK was founded in 2021 by fintech professionals to unite entrepreneurs, companies, investors, and policymakers to promote growth and positive change.

The organization provides a platform for collaboration, aiming to advance the fintech landscape in Kenya.

“Sumsub’s membership is a milestone in advancing this vision, paving the way for a secure and innovative financial future. We’re excited to see their contributions to our industry and the empowerment of Kenyan citizens,” said AFIK Chairman Ali Hussein welcomed Sumsub.

In January 2025, AFIK partnered with four key fintech associations—Fintech Association of Kenya (FINTAK), Digital Financial Services Association of Kenya (DFSAK), Digital Credit Providers Association (DCPAK), and Blockchain Association of Kenya (BAK)—to form The Fintech Alliance (TFA).

This umbrella body seeks to unify Kenya’s fintech ecosystem, focusing on policy advocacy, capital access, innovation, and socioeconomic growth.

Through its platinum membership, Sumsub gains exclusive benefits, including access to local and international fintech markets and a dedicated distribution channel connecting members to clients.

The membership also facilitates collaboration on technology solutions, talent development, and training initiatives.
