Prince Harry meets 21 African State heads in London

Britain’s Prince Harry attended the UK-Africa Investment Summit in London for 21 African countries hosted by Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Monday,

This happened a day after the prince spoke of his sadness that he would shortly be giving up royal duties.

Buckingham Palace said Harry will continue with official duties and on Monday he met presidents of Malawi and Mozambique and the prime minister of Morocco at the African investment summit which was officiated on Monday.

Prince Harry also held a private meeting with Johnson on the sidelines of the summit.

At the summit, Johnson called for deeper investment ties between Britain and Africa, as part of a drive to develop trade links after the United Kingdom leaves the European Union at the end of the month.

The PM also called for Britain to be the “investment partner of choice” for Africa.

The UK announced a package of over Ksh 171 billion worth of deals on jobs and investment in Kenya at the Summit in London. The investment deals will span across housing, finance, renewables, and entrepreneurship.

During the summit, Diageo, the main shareholder of East African Breweries, announced plans to invest Ksh22 billion to build state of the art, environmentally friendly breweries in Kenya and wider East Africa.

Back in 2017, Diageo invested nearly Ksh16 billion into EABL’s Kisumu brewery.

This investment is supporting over 100,000 direct and indirect jobs, including recruiting 15,000 new farmers taking the total number of farmers employed in EABL’s Kenyan supply chain to 45,000
